Vortex Media's XDCAM Field Guides

These are the missing manuals that should have come with your camera. Even if you already have some experience with XDCAM, these guides are indispensable -- but they are especially important for professional shooters who are migrating from Betacam straight to XDCAM. We guarantee that Vortex Media’s Field Guides will help make you a better DP, a better operator, and be more creative.

The PDW-700, F800, EX1, and EX3 are terrific cameras with dozens of new functions and literally hundreds of settings that can be difficult to understand or memorize. For the relatively small cost of a book, you instantly gain the vast in-depth knowledge that took somebody else several weeks to research, figure out, experiment with, and condense down to the essential facts – and then explain to you in a clear and concise manner. These field guides will pay for themselves over and over again in saved time, avoided mistakes, and by introducing you to new features you didn't know about or didn't fully understand. The bottom line is that they enable you to truly get your money's worth from your camera. At Vortex Media, our philosophy is that creating great images should be simple, straightforward, and not a chore.

It’s virtually impossible to memorize everything you need to know about your new camera, and that’s why you need one of Vortex Media’s Field Guides inside your camera bag on every shoot. In the no-nonsense style for which Doug Jensen is known, he cuts through the clutter of confusing, misunderstood, and often overlooked features.  He explains each camera function and provides real-world examples and step-by-step instructions for how to use them.  His suggestions and advanced techniques will improve the quality of your footage, streamline your workflow, and make you more productive.

Each Vortex Media Field Guide is written in clear, easy-to-understand language for a specific model of camera and ensures that the critical information you need will always be at your fingertips. Vortex Media's Field Guides are written from an operator's perspective to help you master your camera and maximize its performance. They’re packed with detailed explanations, tutorials, photographs, checklists, menu trees, parts diagrams, suggested settings, tips, tricks, and page after page of practical advice. You won’t find a single important topic left out. No matter how well you think you know your camera, you'll learn things in Vortex Media’s Field Guides that you didn't know before – plus they make a handy reference anytime you need a quick refresher course. Vortex Media’s Field Guides and Instructional DVDs are the best accessories you can buy for your camera.

ATTENTION
PMW-EX1R OWNERS:

There are no plans to publish a new Field Guide book for the PMW-EX1R.  So, if you want to carry a Field Guide in your EX1R camera bag, we highly recommend getting the PMW-EX1 Field Guide because 99% of the information in the book applies to both cameras. Although there are differences between the two cameras, particularly in the order of the menu screens, those differences should be obvious when you use the book. For more information about the differences between the EX1 and EX1R, please watch this free video.
